I was born in Los Angeles, a voracious doodler scrawling all over my homework. Inevitably, my passion for the arts developed from there into a desire to experiment with a new medium that would change my relationship with my body and self: theatre. I caught the bug when I discovered Shakespeare in my adolescence, and ever since then, I’ve been dedicating much of my time and energy to it. Shakespeare keeps me curious and connected. It touched my soul, and brought me friendships and opportunities I never would have expected. It was the spark that lit my proverbial fire.
An essential part of my work in all mediums is the exploration of the body, senses, and gender. In my illustration work, bodies may be fluid and pulsating, pushing at their own perceived boundaries or even breaking them, and subjects are often freed from the dichotomy of human vs. animal. I identify as a gender non-conforming woman, and seek to bring a genderqueer perspective to my art as well. Part of why I love(d) Shakespeare so much is the freedom it has given me to play traditionally masculine or gender-ambiguous roles, and my visual art aims to also push at the boundaries of gender in an at times poking-fun manner. My queerness can’t be decoupled from my creative process. I love experimenting with the nature of the body in my work being temporary, but with a bottomless capacity for change and transformation. Other hobbies I’ve picked up have included banjo playing and zine making, and I am deeply passionate about entomology and ecology!
I am always looking for work and collaborators, so if you would like to make some art together, please reach out!
